Annika Baker
She Kills Monsters, Iowa State University Dir. Cason Murphy
Welcome!

Annika Baker is a performer and theatre-maker currently based in Central Iowa.
She is trained in MT and classical voice, Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, and Period Acting Styles (Greek, Shakespeare, Restoration plays). She particularly enjoys doing a wide range of genres so she may dig into the minutiae of what makes each one operate.
Annika hopes to do more Shakespeare and language plays (for the delicious scansion of it all) as well as at least one Restoration Play soon due to her immense love of hand fan-ography. (See Image Below)
Annika loves to celebrate the humanity in storytelling, and the storytelling in humanity; she believes theatre exists to create, examine, and explore the bonds between people and our environments.
She finds theatrical structure fascinating, and relishes in script analysis opportunities and table work. Annika strives to be a multi-faceted performer, collaborator, and human being. She adores diving into the nuts and bolts of the text and, often more importantly, the context.

Ultimately, Annika is driven by opportunities to learn, to develop new skills and old ones, and to understand; while the brunt of her experience is in performance, she is just as fascinated in stage management and carpentry, and is always eager to learn.
Annika has never missed a production strike in her life because she lives for safely and methodically dismantling things (preferably with power tools, but she will take what she can get).

Story is one of the most fundamental and intrinsic parts of humanity, and it is her greatest joy to share and recognize the evolutionary call to community.
